We live busy lives and unfortunately food can sometimes be the piece that gets dropped when life turns up the heat. Missing breakfast can have terrible consequences that may have you wondering “what did I do to myself”?

1. Diabetes

Did you know that skipping breakfast may increase the risk of diabetes in women? According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2013, skipping breakfast is associated with hypertension, insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels.


2. Memory

A Journal of the American Dietetic Association article reviewed 47 breakfast-related studies and found that cognitive function was improved in test subjects, especially as it relates to memory and test grades.


3. Weight Loss

There is some evidence that supports eating breakfast as your main meal of the day to loose weight. Eating a large meal at the beginning of the day and smaller meals throughout the day has been shown to increase metabolism.
